The next 6 week Pilates courses are starting Monday 11th January at 18:30 and 19:45 at St Bonaventure church hall.  Or, Friday 16th January at 09:30 at the Vineyard Barn.  Contact us now to book your place.

Why Pilates?         Pilates was first established by Joseph Pilates in the 1940s as a form of exercise combining flexibility with strength. It was initially developed for professional dancers and has since been adapted to make it applicable for a wider population. The exercises still concentrate on improving 'core stability' looking at improving flexibility with a high level of control meaning it works particularly well for those looking to improve their posture, back strength and to tone up, in a safe and controlled manner.

What to expect          The class will last an hour and will be led by an experienced physiotherapist familiar with a wide range of sporting, back and neck problems making it a safe environment in which to exercise. However, the class is equally applicable for fit and healthy participants. The group numbers will be limited to 8, ensuring that technique can be checked and exercises progressed to challenge you whatever your fitness level.  In order to participate in the class, you will need to be able to get on and off the floor.

Venue          The Monday evening classes are being held at St Bonaventure church hall (81 Parkway, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6JF) which is to the left of the church with a separate entrance. Parking is available on Parkway directly outside the church. The Friday morning class is being held in the Vineyard Barn, on the Vineyard, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 7PU.  Exercise mats will be provided at both venues. As the rooms are being hired at both venues, neither the church nor the barn is directly involved in the running of the classes, so please contact Helen directly with any problems or queries you may have.

What to bring       Although the class is active, it is unlikely that you will work up a sweat so wear clothes you are comfortable to exercise in. You will be exercising in bare feet so footwear is not relevant.

Cost          Due to the small group numbers, all bookings are taken in advance and the classes run in blocks of 6, once a week. The cost is £45 for a 6 week course, and unfortunately refunds will not be possible if a class is missed as it will not be possible to fill spaces at short notice. Payment needs to be made in advance via cash, cheque (made payable to Helen Creak) or bank transfer to confirm your place.

Registration     A registration form needs to be fully completed and payment to received to confirm your place.  Please e-mail or telephone to have your registration form sent to you.
