Functional Rehabilitation Approach

A functional rehabilitation approach involves the analysis and practice of whole or part tasks. This allows treatment to focus on the re-acquisition of previous skills or the development of new ones. This Task Oriented Approach is based on the latest research from a variety of disciplines including the Movement Sciences, Psychology and Neurophysiology.

Saeboflex

The Saeboflex is a custom made orthosis designed to enable the repetition of grasp and release activities in individuals with some recovery of the ability to close their hand. It allows an individual who would otherwise be unable to pick up and drop an object to practice the task functionally and develop the strength and range of motion of the whole arm.

At Physio4You we have extensive experience in the use of the Saeboflex and in designing individualised home exercise programmes.

Saebostretch

The Saebostretch is a low load, long duration resting splint desinged to maintain and lengthen the muscles of the forearm and hand. In contrast to more traditional rigid splints it allows movement of the hand with changes in tone or associated reactions, resulting in an improved fit and more comfortable wearing experience.

Electrical Stimulation (FES)

FES uses small electrical currents to activate muscles affected by paralysis resulting from Stroke, Head Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis and other Neurological Disorders. It is used both to aid the restoration of function and as a Neuroprosthesis in individuals with Foot Drop, often resulting in improved walking speed and a reduction in effort.

Physio4You operates as an Outreach Clinic for Odstock Medical Limited, providing assessment and fitting of the single channel 'PACE' unit and the 'Two Channel Stimulator', for both NHS and Private Funded Individuals.

We also offer the Bioness H200 arm rehabiliation FES system. The H200 uses mild electrical stimulation to improve the way your arm works. It may help you get the most out of therapy, and reduce complications including muscle spasms. If the NESS H200 is right for you, it may make it easier for you to drink from a glass, reach for things, write, and use two hands again. It is designed to be easy to use and can be put on with just one hand.
